Hyderabad: Minister for Revenue Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has emphasised the government’s unwavering support for cotton farmers who are being denied the remunerative price for their produce in the market.

Speaking to the media at Tirumalayapalem village in Khammam district on Tuesday, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy strongly warned against any unjust price deductions on the cotton brought in by farmers, declaring, “We will not tolerate any unfair deductions on cotton prices. If discrepancies arise in the weighbridge quota, mills will face severe actions, including possible seizures.”

Highlighting the State government’s farmer-friendly approach, he pointed out the establishment of nine Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) procurement centers.

"Our aim is to ensure that farmers face no inconvenience. We have already implemented revolutionary measures to support them," the Minister said.

He also noted that Rs18,000 crore has been allocated for debt waivers, despite opposition criticism.

“By December, an additional Rs13,000 crore in debt relief will be provided. We remain committed to waiving loans for eligible farmers, even if it requires extreme measures,” Ponguleti said.

In addition to financial support for farmers, Minister Ponguleti announced plans to distribute “Indiramma Houses” as a Diwali gift to eligible low-income families.

“We will continue the housing initiatives inspired by former chief minister late Rajasekhar Reddy, providing homes with the same commitment,” he said. Additionally, a bonus of Rs500 per quintal is promised for fine-grade rice farmers.

Ponguleti urged farmers to ensure moisture content in their grain meets CCI standards to avoid issues at procurement centers.

"Farmers should report any issues to revenue authorities, who will ensure immediate action. Our priority is to see that no farmer suffers losses. Meeting the needs and alleviating the hardships of farmers is our government’s responsibility,” Ponguleti affirmed.
